I had to stay home from church today. I have a sick little girl, going on a week now! I hate when I have to miss church. I so look forward to being spiritually renewed for the week ahead. I was pretty sure last night that I would be keeping Monkey home today, and I started thinking about my childhood, and my life and all the wonderful things I have learned in church that have directed my life.

I want to share with you one of the things I learned as a teenager that has always stayed with me.

The Young Women's program is a wonderful program in the church that helps girls ages 12-18 learn to grow into strong, faithful, good women. It is such a crucial time in our lives when we are trying to decide who we are, what we believe, and where we want to go with our lives.

I think that uncertainty even follows us into adulthood at times. I wasn't the best teenager by any means, and there were definitely decisions I made that I still regret as an adult. But there were many girls around me making unwise choices that would affect the rest of their lives. Choices I chose not to make. I know it was the things I learned from my parents, and in Young Women's that helped me stay strong.

Here's one thing I learned that I still think about today when I am starting to doubt my self-worth:

Be loyal to the royal within you. You are daughters of a Heavenly King.

I know this is true. I know it is true of all of us. I know that many of my bloggy friends aren't particularly religious, but I hope you all know what you are worth. As wives, as mothers, as friends and just as women I think we have a tendancy to doubt ourselves and what we are worth. But we shouldn't. We are divine in nature, daughter's of a Heavenly Father who knows each of us and loves us, just as we know and love our own children.

We are royalty. Let's not forget.

Thank you for sharing that point, it's well taken - and goes along with a lot of thoughts I've had tumbling around in my head for a while now, things that I need to sort out as my oldest is now 7 and only getting more 'worldly', if that's the right word for it.

A friend of mine gave me a tiara for my 50th birthday....as a reminder...that I am the daughter of a king. Everytime I look at that shining crown...I hold my back a little straighter...and know...I am somebody. Thanks for your post. I loved it. Hope the little one gets better.

That is definitely an extremely hard age range to live through...I wouldn't do it again for a million dollars.

Beautifully said!!! I'm gratful for the YW/YM program,it gets/keeps the youth active in the gospel & church activites. I loved girls camp especially, my family wasn'y active members when I was young & going to girls camp each year exposed me to the gospel & the members for a whole week. It was great & it helped me when I became an adult & then finally decided, the gospel is the path I want to follow. My husband & I have now been sealed for 7 years!!

Wonderful memories. I love the program too. It changed my life as a leader. I was inactive in my youth, so I should could have used that program for myself.

Thanks for your thoughts.

So sweet- I have told my kids from the beginning that they have a earthly father- their daddy and a heavenly father- Our God and they are gifts from heaven!

Thanks for the sweet reminder to all of us!

You have quite a following and you're sharing wonderful things! Thank you for being so kind to Jamie...she loves your children (and had fun with your big boy "child" too). Send her an email sometime if you have time. I'm sure she gets lonely at times even though she's busy. The internet is a little slow where she is, but I know she would love it. Maybe we'll meet someday. In the meantime, keep up the great work.

This is such a wonderful post Xazmin. I never knew what selfworth was really about until I made a decision to commit my life to God. Thanks for the reminder of who we are as women in God. And the women God makes us.
