Today I am officially the mom of a teenager.

I don't know if I'm more traumatized by how quickly my little boy is growing up, or by the fact that I'm OLD enough to have a teenager! GAH! When Bookworm was a baby, he was so beautiful - with piles of black hair, dark skin, and big gorgeous brown eyes - that EVERYONE we ran into complimented me on how adorable SHE was. I would have him dressed in overalls and a baseball cap and people still thought he was a girl! Hubby and I were pretty much zombies for the first 2 months - Bookworm did NOT like to sleep, or go long without eating. He slept the longest when we held him, so this was a common sight. When he was 2 years old he saw a violin, and asked me what it was. For the next 3 years he asked me when he was going to get a violin. I finally looked into it, found a good rental program with a local violin-maker, and he started his violin lessons. It's turned out to be one of the best investments we ever made. He has now graduated from his beginning violin teacher to a p

Blogging's not the only thing I've let slide...

Don't feel bad for my neglect. I've been bailing out of stuff all over the place. Lately I've been feeling like my children's lives are passing me by. I'm too busy on the computer, or fulfilling a church responsibility, or a commitment with the school. So for the past few weeks I've been putting those things on the back-burner, instead of my children. I played hooky from 2 school-board events. One was the keynote dinner for the State Charter School Conference (I still attended classes the next day). And the other was a Leadership Team meeting to create the school action plan for next year. In all actuality, I wasn't needed at this meeting. I'm just the board advisor for the Leadership Team, which is made up of our director, and key representatives from the staff. It was really their meeting to have, and their action plan to create. I would have just been the pesky board member that was there "monitoring", and hanging with my kids sound

We Want To Know Wednesday!

Time for another edition of WWTK Wednesday hosted by Janette , Mamarazzi , Shawn and Impulsive Addict . This week's Q's are courtesy of Mamarazzi: {1} You have been asked to give a 10 minute speech to teenage girls. What is it about? Definitely Self-respect. And how girls need to respect themselves and show that respect in the way they dress, the way they talk, and the way they behave. {2} Do you have a pet? Tell us about them. No pets? Why? We currently have 2 pets. First we have Ty, she has been with us for about 3 years. She and Monkey were both 1 at the time we got her, and her gentleness, despite Monkey's annoyances is what made us decide she was a keeper. Ty and Pixie watching a movie. Then we have Speckle. He (she?) was one of the frogs Pixie's class raised for their Learning Expedition on the life of a frog. Lucky for us (please hear the sarcasm), Pixie was one of the winners in the drawing her class had at the end of the year to see who got to take the p

I confess.

I confess that it's been awhile. I haven't blogged in a bit. I just haven't been feeling it. I confess that my heart is heavy, with some stuff that's been going on. And I just haven't felt like keeping up on my blog. I confess that I still miss everyone though. I confess that I'm already overwhelmed with the amount of summertime commitments that are piling up. The calendar is beginning to give me heartburn. I confess that I have a fun new addiction. I'll share next week. I confess that my family has too many clothes, and I hate laundry. So I'm considering the idea of keeping 1 outfit per day of the week for everyone and throwing out everything else!! I confess that I have slept late every morning except for 1 since the kids got out of school. I confess that that trend will likely continue throughout the remainder of the summer. I confess that I'm terribly sad to learn that my favorite dancer, Alex Wong will not be participating in this season o
