Vacationing from exercise is NOT an option

I missed out on EM:ME last week, but I so need the support and motivation from all of you. I'm still really stagnant in my mission to make myself over. I'm not really going backwards and gaining again...YET. But I know it's only a matter of time if I don't get back in the swing of things. PLUS I go to girl's camp on Monday, and I'm afraid the hike is going to kick my butt! Walking 3 miles is something I can accomplish easily enough. Hiking a trail for 3 miles at an elevation of 6500 feet (hello...oxygen anyone?) is a whole 'nother story! So I'm pretty much preparing to make a fool of myself. Whatever. So Amber's question for us today: Share with us some of your vacation survival strategies. Hello, how much do we love to eat on vacations? Do you sometimes get the feeling that as a society this is like a 'free pass' to just indulge?? It seems that way to me. Well, since girls camp is 5 days long, and we have a specific menu, and food we will ...

Extreme Makeover: Me Edition

Hello ladies. Welcome to another edition of EM:ME hosted by the fabulous Amber . Looking to get healthy, and need some support and encouragement? Then you should definitely hop on over to Amber's and check it out! I don't have a lot of progress to report this week. No loss. No gain. I'm feeling a little frustrated at my stand still. My exercise hasn't been as consistent as I'd like, but I have been able to increase my jogging time and walking speed, thus increasing my over all distance on my treadmill workout. I guess that's something. I know my inconsistency in exercising is because of my increasingly bad habit of staying up too late (er, early). I can't remember the last time I went to bed before midnight...and it's catching up to me. I know that on the days I'm too tired to get myself motivated to get on the treadmill, that's why. I just need to make a commitment to get to bed...no excuses. Today's question: "Who is your biggest supp...

Extreme Makeover: Me Edition!

Well. Here we are again! Time for an update on my progress, and an answer to Amber's question. If you aren't familiar with EM:ME, head on over to Amber's to check it out. It's a great way to stay motivated, and offer encouragement to other ladies who are also trying to make themselves over! I've had a pretty good week. I made good food choices and exercised almost every day. I did miss Saturday (boy my every day in the month of May was a bust, eh?). However...I have mastered 3.4 mph! Remember I wanted to increase my walking speed to 3.4 and had such a hard time. I could do a 3.8 mph jog, but the 3.4 mph walk was too awkward and tired my legs out too fast. Well I'm pleased to announce that I have built up to walking 3.3 mph for the 1st 10 minutes, then 3.4 mph for the next 40 minutes, then a 4 mph jog for the last 10. Totaling a little over 3.5 miles each day! I am down another 1.6 lbs. I wish I could have bumped it up to a 2 lb loss. Oh well! This...

Extreme Makeover: Me Edition!

Welcome! If you've never heard of EM:ME, go to the lovely Amber's to check it out! It's a totally amazing group of women encouraging and uplifting each other in our quest to make ourselves over! I'm a litte frustrated this week. I did attempt to work out 6 times. But on Wednesday I was only on the treadmill for 10 minutes when Monkey woke up crying her eyes out. She had been puking for the past 2 days, so I felt I should probably get off the treadmill and comfort her! This turned into 2 hours of her throwing a fit about every suggestion I made to try and calm her down. On Thursday I barely got my workout clothes on when she woke up crying. She's finally feeling better, but I only managed to exercise 4 and 1/6 times last week. Now you'd think that would still be pretty effective...but NOPE! I'm barely down 1 measley lb. What's up with that? The problem with getting on the treadmill late at night is that if something interferes with your workout, you don...

Extreme Makeover Me Edition!

Wednesday again already? If you haven't heard, each Wednesday Amber hosts Extreme Makeover Me Edition . It's for all us ladies trying to make healthy changes to link up with each other and help each other out! Everyone is invited so c'mon and join the party! I'm excited to say I have a good report for this week. Last week I committed to exercising for 1 hr, 6 times. I did it! I really did it! I did an hour every night except Sunday. And it's weird, but I kind of enjoy doing it late at night after everyone is asleep. Hubby is at work and everything is quiet and peaceful. I don't have to worry about if the kids are in trouble, or if they're REALLY watching their little sister like they're supposed to be...it's just less stressful! I pop in my earbuds, listen to some tunes, and the time really flies! BTW - thanks everyone for all your music suggestions last week! I spent the next day downloading some great new music for my workout playlist! I've ...

Extreme Makeover Me Edition--Yee Ha!

Each Wednesday Amber hosts EMME . It's a way for women who are trying to make a healthy change in their lives connect with each other and give each other inspiration and encouragement. I love connecting with other women who are reaching towards the same things I am. Go here if you'd like to join us! This week I feel awesome. I didn't start my goal of exercising 6x until Monday. I know it's no excuse but last Saturday Ribbon Blossoms had a boutique and every minute that wasn't spent taking care of my family's necessities was spent making product! I know I should have made exercise a priority, but you see I have this wonderful friend and business partner who I can't let down! But Monday I was determined! Even though I wasn't able to exercise when I planned because of an extremely clingy, whiny 2 year old. I STILL got on the treadmill at 11:00 pm after daddy got home and could take said 2 year old off my hands! I refused to let the start of a new week g...

Extreme Makeover...Me Edition!

Wow. Well I started my makeover in January, and this is the first time I have ever had 2 bad weeks in a row...Yikes! The wedding was actually great - The food was good, but so was I! I ate small portions, and on Friday, I was actually down from what I had reported on Wednesday. However...I wasn't quite so good for the weekend! Partly, the busyness of the wedding has kept me from going grocery shopping, and the laziness of the "after the wedding" has kept me from going since then! So I don't have a lot of makeover food in the house right now. I have eaten fast food twice! I don't know if I'm up this week. Well I'm sure I'm up, because I haven't exercised either!!! But I don't know how much, because I have refused to get on the scale! But no worries...2 bad weeks is not enough to make me give up! And I'll tell you why. Today Amber asked us about rewards. How do we reward ourselves for health goals met? I need to do better about setting miles...

Extreme Makeover - Me Edition!

I've joined with Amber and some other fantastic ladies for Extreme Makeover Me Edition . Go check it out if you'd like to join! This week has not been a great week for me. I excercised 4 times last week (my goal is 6), but so far have only excercised on Monday of this week. AND I only made it for 30 minutes on the treadmill. I am SO TIRED! I'm not sure what the deal is. Also, went to a bridal shower, and a celebratory dinner with little bro's fiance , and ate some things I shouldn't have. So I am up a little from last week. I'm seriously bummed. I need a pep talk ladies! Because tomorrow's the wedding, and I don't know if I should just enjoy it, or if I should try to be really strong and not eat any of the scrumptious wedding food! Today's question from Amber is how we stave off temptation. One thing I have done in the past, and need to do again is I make a list. I list all the reasons I want to get healthy - from the most shallow (like I might acci...

Extreme Makeover - Me Edition!

I've joined up with Amber to do a weekly linky fest for those of us who are trying to make ourselves over! If you are in the same boat, and want some bloggy support, go over and link up! This week has been good for me. After a few slow weeks, my weight loss has really kicked into gear. I've been better at my exercise - something I actually LOVE, but seem to run out of time for. I know, I know - you're supposed to exercise first thing - but that just won't fly for me...believe me, I've tried! Evenings are when I seem to be able to really get it done. I hop on the treadmill, turn on a show I enjoy, and only allow myself to check "how much longer" during commercial breaks. Also, I'm always trying to make food choices that are on the lower calorie end of the scale. I don't eat "light" or "fat free" of anything though. I feel like it is so synthetic - I question the actual health benefits of something so unnatural. This week Amber a...
