Extreme Makeover: Me Edition!

Welcome! If you've never heard of EM:ME, go to the lovely Amber's to check it out! It's a totally amazing group of women encouraging and uplifting each other in our quest to make ourselves over!

I'm a litte frustrated this week. I did attempt to work out 6 times. But on Wednesday I was only on the treadmill for 10 minutes when Monkey woke up crying her eyes out. She had been puking for the past 2 days, so I felt I should probably get off the treadmill and comfort her! This turned into 2 hours of her throwing a fit about every suggestion I made to try and calm her down. On Thursday I barely got my workout clothes on when she woke up crying. She's finally feeling better, but I only managed to exercise 4 and 1/6 times last week. Now you'd think that would still be pretty effective...but NOPE! I'm barely down 1 measley lb. What's up with that?

The problem with getting on the treadmill late at night is that if something interferes with your workout, you don't really have time to "get back to it later"! I'm not giving up though. I still exercised Saturday, Monday and yesterday. Hopefully this week I'll have a little more success.

I didn't get the strength training incorporated into my exercising like I had hoped. I have a yoga pilates DVD that I wanted to try out...but I didn't get to it. I think maybe I'll just do some hand weights while I walk, then some ab exercises in the mornings.

Also, the first time I increased my walking pace to 3.4 mph, my legs felt like they were going to fall off after about 5 minutes! When did I turn into such a wimp?

This week's goals: increase walking pace to 3.3 mph. Eat more fruit. Get more sleep. I have very poor sleeping habits, and I know that this can effect weight loss or gain, so this week it's my goal to be in bed by 11 every night.

This week's question:
We're all here at EM:ME because we're unhappy with our bodies, or our health; there are things that we are trying to change. But today you must share one thing with everybody that you absolutely love about yourself"

I would have to say that I'm glad I have a quick mind. I learn quickly, and I love knowledge. I love learning (now that I don't have time to learn...why didn't I realize this when I was in school? Oh that's right, because back then I loved kissing more than I loved learning!)

I have developed a great passion for learning about things I never really cared about before, like history, and politics. I still love math too! My dream getaway would be a week alone in a nice hotel with a room full of books!

Here's to a more successful week! What is something you love about yourself?

Oh that's right, because back then I loved kissing more than I loved learning!Me too!

A loss is still a loss and you are doing GREAT! Dang kids messing up our workouts!

Have a fabulous week!
I love your quote. Keep up the great work. It is so hard when we have little ones who need us when we are in the middle of our workout. Keep trying and you will succeed and reach your goal. Hugs, Bobbi Jo

Isn't it frustating at times when one of the kids 'needs' you in the middle of a workout! Poor little one though...that is a good excuse to need mommy.

1 lb. is awesome. Slow and steady wins the race! Keep up the great job!

Just came across your blog. Its so fun to read.
I love your post on breastfeeding. I totally agree with you. Its wonderful, but HARD work at first.

I am defintly going to come back and read often.
Loved that quote at the end! It is so great to read what you like about yourself. You really don't have anything if you don't have a quick mind that is ready to absorb everything & anything. BTW, muscle weighs more...perhaps one reason why you "think" you might not have lost weight. I love reading your blog...so upbeat!!

Great job, you HOTTIE!!!!:-)

Love your bucket filler...perfect for today, I need to write that down!!!
Good for you for sticking with it! I hate those days when nothing will comfort a little one--NO fun!!!

Have you tried Jillian Michael's "The Shred" DVD? Big Mama has blogged about it, and my sister just picked up a copy for me at Target and sent it from TX. :) It's supposed to be 3 different levels, 20 minutes each and a GOOD workout. I am too scared to try it. ;)

Oh I like this. Great thoughts. My daughter was looking in the mirror once and said this - I was made good. It made me think so much. I am glad that she feels so good about herself.

Thanks.

Hope your little ones gets to feeling better. I can't wait to get my tread mill so I can start walking more. I gained 8 pounds the past 2 months so I need to get off my butt and lose it. TFS

I hear you about the treadmill scheduling...last night I had to get on it at 9:00 to fit my run into the day.

I am a night owl, too...and have to MAKE myself go to bed early.

I think you're doing great! I agree about the getting more sleep. I need to do that too, especially b/c Saylor has adapted a routine of getting up at 6:30! I should start working out then & try to get her to watch Dora or something.

And I bet you'll totally see a bigger loss next week. Sometimes it take a week for it to fly off. :)

A loss is a loss not matter how big or small! I can so relate to loving learning. I could spend hours every day just researching and learning. Definitely agree on the sleep thing. I have had a hard time sleeping for years but I recently started forcing myself to go to bed by 10 when my hubs does. Sometimes I toss and turn for a while, but hubs sure is liking me in bed earlier hehehe

Hang in there, little lady!
One pound isn't so bad. Just think if you do that once a week for a year-- you would disappear. It is just hard to be patient when it comes to weight loss especially when we are putting in a lot of effort. Keep up the good work!

Look on the bright side... after giving your nurturing attention to your dear little instead of working out on the treadmill, you still didn't put on any weight. In fact, you dropped a pound with hardly any work! It will only get better as you get the opportunity to work out!
Way to go! I think 1 lb. is awesome!!! I love that you used to be more interested in kissing than learning . . . did they allow a lot of kissing and such during class? :)

Yay for a pound which is better than a poke in the eye. (right?) It is impressive you found the energy to workout after having a needy little one don't be too hard on yourself they won't be babies forever. I struggle with poor sleeping habits...it hurts me a lot as well seems to zap all my energy and willpower. Thanks for the reminder that it is part of the whole package.

yay for your pound! AWESOME! I have a hard time working out late because then it seems like I am up all night! Don't be too hard on yourself, you are doing grea!
A pound is great. I hope I've lost another pound this week. I have bad sleep habbits too. I'm a night owl myself. It seems like that's the only time I get to myself to relax.

Have a great week!!

You are doing great! It is healthy to lose weight slowly. I've also heard it stays off too!

The sleeping thing is something I definitely need to work on too! I've read so many articles about how the amount of sleep you get is crucial to losing the pounds. It seems like such an easy thing to fix, but when you get in a habit of staying up too late and getting up too early, it's hard to change!

You're doing awesome! Keep up the good work!

I ♥ books too....my dream home will have a room with a huge built-in bookcase along the walls...with one of those ladders that slide along...you know like the old libraries...I've always wanted that...someday=)

....and hey...losing even part of a pound, or staying consistent...is better than gaining a pound...so Congratulations!

AND I ♥ that quote...i think when you stop comparing yourself to others...that is when you see the true beauty you have yourself...it has taken me many years to believe that...but I think I'm closer than I used to be!

Hand Made for Fall - A party and a Giveaway!

I've been a busy girl! I have been wanting to do a giveaway for Fall, and when my fab friend Heidi revealed that her Monthly Craft Challenge for October would be Fall-themed crafts, I thought "YES! Start by cutting your napkin down to a manageable size, slightly bigger than your tile. Next spread a layer of mod podg onto the t
