Thirteen things I'm thankful for this Thursday

In no particular order:

1 - I'm thankful for a warm home to be in.  It was 16 degrees outside this morning when hubby took the kids to school.

2 - I'm thankful for the amazing school my children are able to attend.  I'm not rich or privileged, but thanks to school choice, I am able to choose a public school that fits my children and what I want for them and their education.

3 - I'm thankful to live in this amazing country.  A country where boys and girls have the opportunity to go to school.  Despite all our flaws, this is still the greatest country on earth. (no offense to any of my non-American friends! )

4 - I'm thankful for a hard-working, dedicated husband.  I forget to tell him sometimes that I know I have it pretty good.

5 - I'm thankful for Maybelline Colossal Volum' Express mascara.  Still the best mascara I've ever used.

6 - I'm thankful for my Savior.

7 - I'm thankful for funny kids.  The other day on the way to pick up the older kids from school, Monkey informed me that when she was in high school I wouldn't have to come pick her up, because she could just drive her own Corvette.  Um, how many 5-year-olds even know what a Corvette is?

8 - I'm thankful for funny friends.  Not a day goes by that I don't get to laugh from something on FB, or in blog land, or one of my friends here in my day to day life.  Even on my saddest days.

9 - I'm thankful for Mod Podge.

10 - I'm thankful for the sunshine.  Even though it's freezing outside, it's bright and sunny.  That makes me cheerful.

11 - I'm thankful for music.  Whether spiritual, classical, or mainstream, there is always a song to fit my mood.  Music just makes life better.

12 - I'm thankful for the miracles of modern medicine.  It hurts my heart to know that there are still those in this world who have to suffer without it's benefits.

13 -I'm thankful for brave men and women who put their lives on the line to serve their fellow men and women.  Whether it be in the armed forces, law enforcement, firefighting, etc.

Hmmmm, now I'm on a roll, but I'm out of numbers!  What are you thankful for today?

Monkey is so cute!

The mascara... how good is it? I have very thin, wispy, clear colored, short lashes. Does that stuff thicken and lengthen?

I'm a mascara whore, I'll have to try this one.
Laughed at the whole Corvette thing, even though I already read it on fb last week. What a funny kid!
I hope I am one of those that help make you laugh sometimes. Laughter really is such a great pick me up.
Amen, God Bless America!!!

LOL@ Myya calling herself a mascara whore. i know first hand that she takes a good 20 minutes, JUST applying mascara ;)

i remember a mascara discussion on FB not that long ago and you took it to a private convo because you felt so strongly about mascara that you didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings on the comment thread.

i think that is the day i realized that i love you!

Hand Made for Fall - A party and a Giveaway!

I've been a busy girl! I have been wanting to do a giveaway for Fall, and when my fab friend Heidi revealed that her Monthly Craft Challenge for October would be Fall-themed crafts, I thought "YES! I will do a giveaway of Fall items - handmade by me!" So today I'm linking up with Heidi , and introducing my Handmade For Fall Giveaway as I show you what I've made for Heidi's party ! Sound good? First, a while back I showed you some coasters that I made, but it was clear back when I first started blogging, so I'm going to show you again with this new seasonal set! This idea has been floating around blog land, and I've seen several different variations. Here's how I do it. You will need: paper napkins, 4x4 ceramic tiles, 4x4 cork squares, MOD PODGE (what else?), sponge brushes (not shown), and polyurethane (not shown). Start by cutting your napkin down to a manageable size, slightly bigger than your tile. Next spread a layer of mod podg onto the t...

Mod Podge to the Rescue

Have you noticed that eggs and nests seem to be a common theme in home decor - especially with people making some decor changes for spring? I've seen some pretty cute stuff! For example - what do you think of these? If you like this look, you can get it at Williams-Sanoma. You'll pay $36 for the eggs, and $68 for 1 glass hurricane. They don't include the greenery! Sheesh! Maybe you could go online and find the whole look, already put together, like this: You'll pay $39 for that teeny one, and if you'd like a larger one - you'll shell out $89! Good thing I'm the Queen of Mod Podge! Remember this beauty that I found at the DI for $5? Well, I gathered up my trusty mod podge, the left over scrap book paper from this project, some plastic eggs that I got for 79 cents at Walmart, and a bag of moss that was around $2, also from Walmart. I mod podged the eggs closed so they wouldn't pop open while I was working with them, then I cut the scrapbook paper into ...
