Get In There!

I'm so excited that the darling Alicia at Imma Momma has started a weekly photo challenge. She gives some basic tips on ways to improve your photography, then each week you share what you have learned in the form of a photo! I so want to become a better photographer! If you do too, go check out her weekly Photo Challenge!

Last week's challenge was: Get In There! Practice taking pictures capturing details and getting up close to your subject. Practice getting up close to eliminate distracting backgrounds. Don't forget to watch for unwanted shadows and continue practicing in different light.

Last week we took the kids to the park...I got a lot of great shots that I'll share later this week. But I thought for today's photo challenge I would share this favorite one of Pixie. I just love it!

I was also tagged by the fabulous, fellow New Kid Loving JennyKate! You must go check her out because she's simply hilarious! Trust me!

I'm to go to my pictures, open the 1st file folder, and share the 10th picture and the story that goes along with it. Then tag 5 more people to participate!

This is a picture of Cowgirl holding Monkey when she was 4 days old. You've never seen a prouder, more loving big sister.

To this day Monkey prefers her Cowgirl over anyone in the family! Including me! They share such a special bond, and I love watching the 2 of them together.

Now I tag:

Amanda

MiMi

Tabitha

Small House

Amanda

Last...I'm proud to say that I am now First Aid Certified! That's what we did last night for our Young Women's activity. We needed to get all the girls (and ourselves!) first aid certified before camp!

We leave on July 13...the day after I get back from Vegas...CRAZY!

I love that up-close photo! It turned out great!
Awesome close-up! You can really focus on her instead of all the stuff in the background. :)

Thanks for the tag...gotta love the big sis/little sis shot. So sweet!! Do they still love each other like that? ;) ;)
Aww- great shot of Pixie!! I am always trying to learn new tricks of photography, thanks for the heads up on her blog!!

I'll have to go check out that Photo Challenge! I'm taking a class on my new Nikon D40 on Saturday, so hopefully that will at least help me with HOW to use the camera.

Hand Made for Fall - A party and a Giveaway!

I've been a busy girl! I have been wanting to do a giveaway for Fall, and when my fab friend Heidi revealed that her Monthly Craft Challenge for October would be Fall-themed crafts, I thought "YES! I will do a giveaway of Fall items - handmade by me!" So today I'm linking up with Heidi , and introducing my Handmade For Fall Giveaway as I show you what I've made for Heidi's party ! Sound good? First, a while back I showed you some coasters that I made, but it was clear back when I first started blogging, so I'm going to show you again with this new seasonal set! This idea has been floating around blog land, and I've seen several different variations. Here's how I do it. You will need: paper napkins, 4x4 ceramic tiles, 4x4 cork squares, MOD PODGE (what else?), sponge brushes (not shown), and polyurethane (not shown). Start by cutting your napkin down to a manageable size, slightly bigger than your tile. Next spread a layer of mod podg onto the t

Friend Makin' Monday and 100th post giveaway!

I just love Mondays! If you've never heard of Friend Makin' Monday , go to Kasey's to read all the rules and join in! I have met some of my best bloggy friends through FMM ! This week's task is to complete the following tag: 5 Senses Tag We are to list 4 things we love, and one thing we dislike, for each sense. Smell Like: 1. Pot roast in the oven! 2. Sunkissed Citrus Scentsy, and Melon Medley from the Walmart knock-off scents! 3. rubbing alcohol (I know, I need help) 4. along those same lines...nail polish and nail polish remover. Dislike: coffee Touch Like: 1. The click, click of the keyboard beneath my fingers! 2. back massage from my husband - he has magic hands! 3. an ice cold soda can on the back of my neck on a hot summer day! 4.Hot showers Dislike: Hot glue on my fingertips! Occupational hazard for me! Sound 1. My baby (okay she's 2 now!) whispering "secrets" in my ear. 2. My kiddo's giggles. 3. My husband's singing. He has a very nice si

Mod Podge Mania!

I am so super excited for our first edition of Mod Podge Mania! I love this stuff, and I LOVE getting new ideas for how to use it...so hopefully this will be a great place for "inspiration" where we can all get some fun new ideas! So here's how it will work. Post about a project on your blog, along with instructions on how you created your mod podge masterpiece! OR you can do a post featuring a project you have seen someone else do, just to pass the idea along. Just make sure you give credit where credit is due! Also, make sure to include a link back to my blog in your post! Next, link up by entering your name and copying the URL to your post into Mr. Linky - he's waiting at the bottom of this post. It would be helpful if you put the name of your project along with your name so people will know what they are coming to look at! (example: Xazmin - decorative eggs) Last, go check out everyone's fabulous projects and let the inspiration begin! You can link up as
