FMM - Resolutions

FRIEND MAKIN" MONDAY!!! Okay, I just had to yell that. Because I used to participate EVERY week, and I loved it. In fact, some good blog friends, whom I actually now consider close real friends whom I just haven't met in person, were first found through FMM.

It has been such a long time, but I am so glad to be participating again.

This week's topic is resolutions.

I already shared some fitness goals here.

But something I really, REALLY would like to accomplish this year? I'd like to love my home.

Now don't get me wrong, I am SO grateful to have a roof over my head. To have a space for my family that is warm and safe. So please know that I am not trying to sound ungrateful. I know that there are many who don't own a home, or even have a place to stay.

But I don't love my house. It is old, and dated, and is falling apart cosmetically. If you've known me from my early blogging days you know that the bane of my existence is the barforamic pink carpet in my living room. The work done by the previous owner was a bunch of half-a%$ed work that is falling apart. Wallpaper in the bathroom that immediately started peeling. So I decided to rip it down and paint. Only then I got pregnant, and lost my momentum. I now have a bathroom stripped to the drywall, and the linoleum is coming up by the tub. And the kitchen. Ew. That's all. Sky blue and white color scheme. With the upper cabinets painted white, and the lower ones blue. And the most horrid border around the top you have ever seen. Plus the border is falling down. Gag.

I'm not going to keep complaining. But this year I would like to make some improvements to my house, that will help me love my home. I don't have a bunch of (or any) extra cash laying around to do this. So to accomplish this goal, I also need to accomplish my shared goal with my husband of expanding our business and increasing our income. 2009 was rough for us self-employed types. 2010 showed some good improvement (at least for us), and I'd like to see 2011 bring us at LEAST to where we were in 2008, but preferably even better.

I would like to try to start setting a small amount of money aside periodically that I can then use to make some of the changes that will help me be happier with my house. Lucky for me I have some amazing friends with mad skills at thrifty decorating, and some FABULOUS inspiration in blog land. Wish me luck!

Did you make any resolutions? If so, what are they? Head over to All The Weigh and link up to share and see what others have planned for 2011!

I'm one of those people trying to figure out where I'm going to live next. Ha..I've been so transient over the last few months, but I hope it comes together soon..I think it will.

That being said, I understand you wanting to love where you live. I want to love where I live too. I think it's normal, and I also think it's a really awesome goal. :)

I'm so glad you're back at FMM. I participated with you long ago on a blog I had before I had this one. And I think you're awesome!

I think it's normal to always want better, it's what drives most of us to work harder.

Happy 2011!

I'm constantly working on my house, too, to love it more. That's a great goal to set aside some $$ to work on it. :)

That's one of my goals too! Take "before" pictures so we can see what it looked like before you beautify it!
I'm excited for you! We are so blessed to be completing our new home, but with that comes the panic of "how are we going to be able to afford our new mortgage??!" Sometimes I wish we would have just made do with what we had, but then again . . . this little manufactured home is falling apart in a major way. Anyway, I guess what I'm trying to say is I know you are going to make your home AWESOME! And I can't wait to follow the journey :)

Me too! Wanna love my house and make it our home! We've only been here a little over a year...and I'm just barely starting to feel like I'm not living in someone else's house!
Oh, I wanna love my house too. I actually had really strong "like" feelings for my house when it was clean the other day - okay just the living ares because my room is still a pit, but it's an improvement on my usual hatred toward my house. I'm with ya on the $$ part though. It's hard to make big changes in your house with only the change you find in your couch cushions! :) Good luck girl!

I DO love my house now. I have this awesome housekeeper/remodeler/daycare provider. I married well. Sadly, we are in a similar financial tough spot and can't expand our tiny house. Now that he has the time, we don't have the money. blah. Hopefully you guys can get things moving a bit faster than we have.

I completely understand loving where you live. For the first 5 years of living here we did absolutely nothing to the house, painted Rhiannons room was about it. I felt like this was our temporary house so why bother. But things change...and we have been here 10 years! And have no plans to leave any time soon. Slowly but surely we have been doing improvements. Im not trying to make my dream home...just a home that I love being in.

Hand Made for Fall - A party and a Giveaway!

I've been a busy girl! I have been wanting to do a giveaway for Fall, and when my fab friend Heidi revealed that her Monthly Craft Challenge for October would be Fall-themed crafts, I thought "YES! I will do a giveaway of Fall items - handmade by me!" So today I'm linking up with Heidi , and introducing my Handmade For Fall Giveaway as I show you what I've made for Heidi's party ! Sound good? First, a while back I showed you some coasters that I made, but it was clear back when I first started blogging, so I'm going to show you again with this new seasonal set! This idea has been floating around blog land, and I've seen several different variations. Here's how I do it. You will need: paper napkins, 4x4 ceramic tiles, 4x4 cork squares, MOD PODGE (what else?), sponge brushes (not shown), and polyurethane (not shown). Start by cutting your napkin down to a manageable size, slightly bigger than your tile. Next spread a layer of mod podg onto the t

I am so super excited for our first edition of Mod Podge Mania! I love this stuff, and I LOVE getting new ideas for how to use it...so hopefully this will be a great place for "inspiration" where we can all get some fun new ideas! So here's how it will work.
