Everybody's doing it...

So it's that day of the week, AND that time of year. I'm talking about when we discuss our goals/progess with the battle to turn muffin tops to skinny jeans (even though I actually canNOT get on the skinny jean bandwagon and will stick with my bootcuts, thank you very much).

This week Shortmama asks us about our health goals for 2011. What we'd like to achieve and how we are going to get there.

I of course want to lose weight, as well as get healthier. I have lost a significant amount of weight in the past. I loved how empowered I felt, and how I enjoyed every aspect of life so much more. Sadly, I was struck with a horrible case of bronchitis, which Cowgirl then caught which developed into a 5 day hospital stay for her with viral pneumonia, followed by the shocking death of a young family member, then the holidays, then my pregnancy with Monkey! I'm not looking for sympathy, or to make excuses. Just wanting to illustrate how easily life can derail you, even when you're on a great role. This time I plan to not let life derail me, no matter what it throws my way!

Here are some goals/steps I am putting into place this year!

I would like to get back to running daily. I have a sweet friend K who has committed to start working toward this goal with me starting Monday. She is much younger and skinner than me - but she has Asthma - so maybe that will put her a little more on my level! Hehe.

We will start out walking, and then run short intervals, gradually increasing the time spent running, and decreasing the time spent walking. Hopefully within a few months we'll be running the whole time!

We have decided a great way to motivate ourselves is to look for a 5K in the area and register - once you've paid for something, you're a lot more motivated to train for it!!

I also have decided to go back to my previous Dr. Pepper policy (you know how I love my DP), No DP while I'm at home, or just running errands. I'll only allow myself if I am out to dinner, or a similar special occasion. There's no way I'm giving it up completely though!

Now I have told you before that I am motivated by vanity as much as (more than) health. I love clothes. I love cute clothes. Cute clothes lose their cuteness when they are in my size. Weird how that happens.

I also love soccer. ReAL Salt Lake soccer to be specific. Soccer season starts in March, and continues late into the fall. I have mentioned my obsession with creating sets on Polyvore before. I combined my love of RSL soccer, and cute clothes and came up with this set. I WANT to wear this to a game! I won't look good in it by March, but I sure would love to wear it to a game by the end of summer! What do you think? Isn't it sooooo freakin' sporty and cute?

I know that's sort of a lame, shallow goal. But sometimes I am lame, and shallow. Just sayin'.

What are your goals? I'll be sharing my progress along the way...no more slacking off on THIS or my blogging anymore! Hope your 2011 is great so far!

I will help kick you in the butt if needed. I am on a pretty serious diet/exercise regimen starting Sunday. You can see all the details on my facebook page, and I will both blog and facebook my progress for the world to see. Once I get through that initial 8 weeks, it's back on the Weight Watchers program for me. I will get skinny faster than you I bet! Skating has done wonderful things for my derriere!
"Cute clothes lose their cuteness...." True dat. I know it too well!!! ;)
Girl, I feel ya! Those pregnancy pounds are HARD to get off!! I started my intervals this morning on the treadmill and I'm sure I won't be able to walk tomorrow! UGH! Xazmin, have you tried on skinny jeans? I loooove my skinny jeans! Skinny jeans and boots and a long top - oh so cute and hides a multitude of muffin top. I know what ya mean about clothes losing their cuteness too. I HATE that!

It's an adorable outfit! I don't think it's shallow or lame... it's a catalyst. You'll look great. Good luck with your exercise regimen. You can do it!

I think I need to adopt your DP philosophy. I shudder to think about doing it, but if you can do it, I can do it, right?

Hand Made for Fall - A party and a Giveaway!

I've been a busy girl! I have been wanting to do a giveaway for Fall, and when my fab friend Heidi revealed that her Monthly Craft Challenge for October would be Fall-themed crafts, I thought "YES! I will do a giveaway of Fall items - handmade by me!" So today I'm linking up with Heidi , and introducing my Handmade For Fall Giveaway as I show you what I've made for Heidi's party ! Sound good? First, a while back I showed you some coasters that I made, but it was clear back when I first started blogging, so I'm going to show you again with this new seasonal set! This idea has been floating around blog land, and I've seen several different variations. Here's how I do it. You will need: paper napkins, 4x4 ceramic tiles, 4x4 cork squares, MOD PODGE (what else?), sponge brushes (not shown), and polyurethane (not shown). Start by cutting your napkin down to a manageable size, slightly bigger than your tile. Next spread a layer of mod podg onto the t
