27 Days of Thankful - day #3

Today I'm thankful that I live with my husband.

I know that seems like a given...if you're married then you live with your husband. But I've just gotten back in touch with my dear friend and cousin, "A". We talked on the phone for a long time last night getting caught up on each others' lives. We haven't seen each other in probably 10 years. She was a newlywed, and my son was a baby.

She is living in Idaho, and right now her husband commutes here to Utah where he is working at a charter school. When he finished school, there were no jobs where they live. He found one here. She has a good job in Idaho, and they are trying to decide what is right for their family...her looking for a job here, or him looking again for a job there. In the meantime he lives here during the week and only goes home on weekends.

What a difficult situation - my heart goes out to them and I hope they are soon able to be together full time.

Talking to her made me realize how blessed I am to live under the same roof as my wonderful husband full time. I know I get lonely at night when he is working - but I get to wake up with him every morning, and usually we get to spend time during the day together. He's here to see the kids off to school, and is usually here when they come home from school - overall pretty lucky I'd say. Wouldn't you agree?

So today, I'm thankful to live with my husband.

Want to join in 27 Days of Thankful? Head over to Amanda's and check it out!

AND now for my daily dose of SYTYCD...today's video is from season 3 as well. This is Pasha - he's a Russian Ballroom Dancer who I LOVE! And Lauren - I can't remember her style. They drew hip-hop for this week, and it was when Transformers came out. This is another Dave Scott number - "Transformers". I think Pasha did AWESOME adapting his ballroom into some hot hip hop! Enjoy!

Hi Xazmin, I pray your cousin and her husband can find a solution that will work best for them. I am also grateful that my husband and I live within the same home. :)

I can totally relate to your cousin! My husband works in Chicago all week and comes home to MI for the weekends. The company he worked for went out of business here in MI and the only job he could find was in Chicago. Now we can't sell our house because it lost so much value. So, I stay here so it's not empty but do go there for a week at a time. BUT we THANKFUL and BLESSED that he has a job!
What an awesome thing to be thankful for. I am glad that you recognize it.

You are SO right. When CJ had to go to Singapore a couple different times it was HELL. I hated it. :(

The hubs and I used to be in that same situation. He worked out of state during the week and only came home on weekends, sometimes not every weekend. It was rough! You feel like a single parent and you start to resent your spouse for only being around part time...not a good thing!
I have a friend whose husband commutes to Chicago every week from VIRGINIA! It really stinks for them...they have 3 boys. I hope your cousin and her hubby find a great solution for their family.

LOVED that Transformers number. Was Lauren contemporary or Jazz??? So excited for tonight...I may watch that new show "V" and then come back and watch SYTYCD so I can fast-forward through commercials. ;)

My dad had to do a similar thing when I was a junior in high school. And it was hard seeing him just on the weekends. Hopefully something can work out for them soon.

I'd say you're very lucky and totally blessed!

I love the video...awesome dance!

I'm so excited for you that you get to go see SYTYCD in 4 DAYS!!! YAY!

Hope you're having a great day!♥
What a cute picture! You are lucky! My sister lives in Idaho ad her husband works in California and comes home on the weekend. And mine works in Canada. But you do what you have to do. It would be so nice if he had a normal job though - I just have to appreciate him extra when he is here!

XOXO

My husband is an airline pilot, and we've had to live apart several times in our marriage. It really stinks, but it makes the time together all the sweeter. He currently commutes from MEM to SLC, and I always have the option to go visit him with my flight benefits. When I explain to people that we live apart, many automatically believe that our marriage is "on the rocks." I actually think our marriage is better than ever...we have the strength as a couple to make it work (even though we only get to see each other a few times a month)

Yes, those who get to wake up to their spouse daily should be thankful! Just look at all the comments that don't get that privelage! Very thankful here too!

What a great pic! Love that he's laying on the piano listening to you play!

My sister is in the same situation as your cousin. He was just transferred from St. Louis to Kansas City (about 4 hours away). He is looking for a job here, but will have to keep commuting to KC on the weekdays until he finds something.

I will pray for your cousin while I'm praying for my sister!

We sure do take so many things for granted don't we?

Your post made me think of all the military spouses that are sleeping alone tonight!

I so feel you about this. I've never been in that situation. But I sooo love my husband dearly and couldn't imagine having to live like that..I would be sooo sad! I want him here even though he snores and talks in his sleep...I tell myself at least I know he is breathing!

Hi Xazmin
I hope your cosuin and hubby can find a solution. My dad is going to have to leave my moms on Sundays and come back on Fridays. He has to help a company set up 300 miles away and than after 2 months, he loses his 15 year job.

I hope your cosuins hubby can find a job closer.

Also, I put Coles costume pics up:)

Take care
Sara
OMGosh, that must be so difficult for your cousin. I have a hard time when my Hubs works late (and at least he still comes home!)
I am enjoying reading your Thankful posts.

Hand Made for Fall - A party and a Giveaway!

I've been a busy girl! I have been wanting to do a giveaway for Fall, and when my fab friend Heidi revealed that her Monthly Craft Challenge for October would be Fall-themed crafts, I thought "YES! I will do a giveaway of Fall items - handmade by me!" So today I'm linking up with Heidi , and introducing my Handmade For Fall Giveaway as I show you what I've made for Heidi's party ! Sound good? First, a while back I showed you some coasters that I made, but it was clear back when I first started blogging, so I'm going to show you again with this new seasonal set! This idea has been floating around blog land, and I've seen several different variations. Here's how I do it. You will need: paper napkins, 4x4 ceramic tiles, 4x4 cork squares, MOD PODGE (what else?), sponge brushes (not shown), and polyurethane (not shown). Start by cutting your napkin down to a manageable size, slightly bigger than your tile. Next spread a layer of mod podg onto the t

What would a party be without us BOTH?

Y'all didn't really think we were gonna party seperately did you? Not when we have so much fun TOGETHER! And it's better this way, because it means you have TWO chances to win an awesome Blogiversary giveaway! One year ago today, Tanielle and I both started blogging. For me, I thought it might be a good way to promote our hairbow busines. But I quickly learned that the true value of my blog was in the wonderful women I've met and the wonderful friends I've made - some who have even become close friends outside of Bloggerville. I've laughed, cried, been inspired, and received the best comments from some of the smartest, funniest, kindest ladies I've ever known. Thank you all for all of it! And thank you Tanielle for partying with me, and for being one of the people I've had the most fun with in my life. Ever. 10 things I love about Tanielle 1. I love that she shares a maturity level equivalent to mine (in it's near non-existence!) 2. I love that s
