Public Service Announcement

Does anybody else hold the hair elastic(s) between their teeth while using both hands to comb little girls' hair into a ponytail, so that you can just grab the elastic out of your mouth and wrap the ponytail once it's combed into place?  And did that description even make any sense at all?

I'm here to warn you.  I almost died this morning.  Okay that may be a small exaggeration.  But I really did nearly choke - like for reals choke.

I was combing Monkey's hair - we were running a little behind schedule, and Hubby and the other girls were already out in the car waiting for Monkey to join them so they could head to school.  I had the elastic between my teeth.  I had opened the cupboard beneath the sink to grab a spray bottle with one hand, while holding Monkey's hair in place with the other.  I was in a hurry and sort of slammed the cupboard back shut.

It smacked Monkey's knee, and she gave a little yelp of pain.  I instinctively gasped, and literally inhaled the elastic from between my teeth and it went halfway down my throat!!

I gagged for a second and coughed it up, so I was okay...but seriously - who does that?

Most of you probably aren't special enough to have something like that happen to you - but I thought I'd warn you just in case!

Have a great Wednesday.

OMGoodness! So glad you're ok!

You know, my MIL did the same thing a few years ago, but it was a nail! She was hanging a picture and had a nail between her teeth, while she was hammering in another one...long story short, somehow, she managed to swallow it!! Spent 2 days in the hospital waiting for it to pass and to make sure it didn't puncture anything. Crazy and scary fo sho! I make sure to never hold anyting in my teeth! Freaks me out! LOL.

I've missed you!!! Hope all is well with you and your beautiful family!

So sorry to hear that you almost choked, that's absolutely terrible but thank goodness you're okay and nothing bad happened to either you or the baby, the only bonus is that you'll not forget what happened any time soon although it's still a shame that it happened of course.

I am totally not laughing that you almost choked to death but i am giggling at how this must have all looked. I usually put it around my wrist or make the girls who's hair I'm doing hold it. Although when they aren't paying attention when i need it its super annoying!!!

I'm sorry, but this post got me laughing hysterically. Not at the fact that you almost "died" choking of course. LMBO. It's just too funny and I can just imagine it. I'm just glad you didn't double over and pass out. Funny funny. Thank you for lightening up my already annoyed day.

Hand Made for Fall - A party and a Giveaway!

I've been a busy girl! I have been wanting to do a giveaway for Fall, and when my fab friend Heidi revealed that her Monthly Craft Challenge for October would be Fall-themed crafts, I thought "YES! I will do a giveaway of Fall items - handmade by me!" So today I'm linking up with Heidi , and introducing my Handmade For Fall Giveaway as I show you what I've made for Heidi's party ! Sound good? First, a while back I showed you some coasters that I made, but it was clear back when I first started blogging, so I'm going to show you again with this new seasonal set! This idea has been floating around blog land, and I've seen several different variations. Here's how I do it. You will need: paper napkins, 4x4 ceramic tiles, 4x4 cork squares, MOD PODGE (what else?), sponge brushes (not shown), and polyurethane (not shown). Start by cutting your napkin down to a manageable size, slightly bigger than your tile. Next spread a layer of mod podg onto the t
