Vinyl Name Frame tutorial

I spent this morning with a couple of my friends in the Young Women's presidency. We're trying to get birthday gifts made for each of the girls for the year. We are making "Daughter of God" name frames for them.

This was an idea I got from the gifts my sweet friend Tanielle gave to my kids for Christmas a few years ago. Their name frames said "I am a child of God" and "Choose the Right". There are so many different things you can do with this project.

You will need: picture frame (got these from the Dollar Tree),
paint (if you want to change the color of your frame) - we used tole paint because we already had some, but spray paint is fine,
Vinyl - 2 contrasting colors, and Cricut (or order already cut vinyl if you don't have the supplies to do it yourself)
Tulle or ribbon

First discard the back from you frame, keeping only the frame and the glass, then paint your frame whatever color you've chosen.

Cut your vinyl for the name in a large, boxy font. The size will depend on how long your name is, you just have to kind of eye-ball it.

Cut your vinyl for the phrase (we chose Daughter of God) in a smaller font, something scrolly works nice.
Place the name vinyl on the glass first, making sure to center it horizontally and vertically. Then apply the phrase vinyl across the top of the name, making sure it is well centered also.

Secure the glass face down into the frame with some hot glue, and attach tulle for hanging either with some hot glue or a staple gun.

If we werent' having to mass produce these in a short amount of time, I would also take some sandpaper to the frame and distress it a bit, as well as do a bow at the top point of the tulle for hanging it with. I still think they turned out pretty cute though! I hope the girls like them!
I know they look kinda crooked in my sloppy pictures...but trust me - they aren't!

I hope you're all having a fabulous week so far!

Don't forget Mod Podge Mania on February 28th!

What a cute idea! You are so clever -- the YW are lucky to have you, by the way. I am going to finally add you to my page instead of always going through Jamie's. haha Hope that's okay.
