This 'n' That

I have just a couple of items of business to take care of here today. And I finally got the picture linked up for Sunday's Mod Podge Mania...sorry to take so long!

First off: You want some of THIS?

I had a number of requests for the recipe to the tropical slush that I made for my girls' night/luau a couple of weeks ago. This is the result of my not thawing the slush for long enough before the party, so I had to try to smash/scrape it with a spoon...it ended up with a nice hole in the middle...so I decided it would be a a slush sculpture until it thawed completely!

Aren't these pineaple cups fabulous? They were the hit of the night.

2 of my girls Kristy and Nancy having a slurp-off! We have such a good time together.

Here I am with Heidi, our fabulous hostess. It was such a great night. I know I've said this before, but I want to say it again. I am surrounded by the best group of friends, and I'm so glad they're part of my life!

Now for the recipe!

Tropical Slush
12 Cups sugar
water
4 cans (12 oz.) frozen orange juice
3 cans (12 oz) frozen lemonade
1 large can pineapple juice
1/2 bottle almond extract
gingerale
5 gallon bucket for mixing.

In large pot mix sugar with just enough water to disolve. Bring to a boil until sugar is dissolved. Transfer to 5 gallon bucket. Add o.j., lemonade, pineapple juice and almond extract. Add enough water to finish filling 5 gallon bucket. Mix well. Transfer to smaller containers for freezing.

To serve: Remove from freezer 2-4 hours before serving. Mash slush with potato masher and add gingerale to desired consistency. Enjoy!

This is really the best slush I have ever had, and is a hit wherever we take it!!

Now, I have a big apology to make to those of you who have passed awards on to me, and I have failed to blog about them! I really am such a slacker, but I'm trying to be better! I received the Kreativ Blogger award from Cassie, and am supposed to list 5 things that people don't know about me. Haven't I already told you guys everything? Well, I'll try.

1. My dad adopted me when he married my mom, when I was 8 years old. My biological father hasn't really been in the picture most of my life. Some of you already know this one!

2. I have never flown on an airplane

3. I sluffed about 70% of my highschool career, but still managed to score a 30 on my ACT.

4. I love horses and wish I lived on a ranch.

5. I want to learn how to use, and then purchase a handgun.

Did I at least surprise you with SOME of the stuff? I'm pretty much a blabbermouth, so it's hard for me to come up with something I haven't already told you about!!
update: I just learned that I have also been awarded the Happy 101 award by Emmy. In my new effort to be better at posting these...I'm updating my post to include it! I'm supposed to list 7 things people don't know about me...so I'm gonna cheat and just add 2 more to the previous list!

1. Before I got pregnant with Monkey, I was running 5 miles a day, 6 times a week!

2. I HATED the color pink when I was growing up, now it's my favorite color!

Last, I know you're all wondering who won the Blogiversary giveaway! But you're gonna have to wait a little longer! My partner in crime is out of town for a few days, so I'm waiting for her to get back so we can announce together!

That recipe sounds delicious! I will have to try it this summer!
The recipe sounds delish, but you know me: I'll need to add a splash (or two) of vodka or rum...

I am so with you on the pink thing, but can't get on board with the gun thing. (Although my Hubs would be supportive of your endeavor...)
That looks delish!! I love the idea of a luau. :) Was it celebrating something special, or just for fun??

Can't wait to try the slush this summer!

I too have never been on a plane. I'm more clausterphobic then I care to admitt!

Never flown? Is that because of a fear or never had the need?

That is awesome that you used to run so much... I am afraid to know how far I could make it, if I wasn't pregnant of course :)

I'm with Viv, I would add a little somethin', somethin' to it too!

ACT? what's that. Obviously I "sluffed" 95% of my 4 years away.

Never been on an airplane? OK this summer we're trying to get a bunch of us bloggers together...you're comin'!

The gun, I'm in. I'm taking a concealed weapons course soon with my girlfriends...one can never be too safe. We already have a gun in the house. My oldest (15) knows about it and when my little one (10) is old enough she will too. It's in a safe place but where it can be retrieved quickly if need be (lets pray that time never comes). Scary and ad that we even have to have one!

I love pink and always have.

Hi Xazmin,
I can't wait to try out the slush. Where did you get the pineapple cups? I am doing a Curious George theme for Cole's 1st birthday in April. I thought those cups and slush would fit into my theme since Curious George came from the jungle.

Have a great night

I will do a giveaway of Fall items - handmade by me!" So today I'm linking up with Heidi , and introducing my Handmade For Fall Giveaway as I show you what I've made for Heidi's party ! Sound good? First, a while back I showed you some coasters that I made, but it was clear back when I first started blogging, so I'm going to show you again with this new seasonal set! You will need: paper napkins, 4x4 ceramic tiles, 4x4 cork squares, MOD PODGE (what else?), sponge brushes (not shown), and polyurethane (not shown). Start by cutting your napkin down to a manageable size, slightly bigger than your tile. Next spread a layer of mod podg onto the t
