Her Special Day

We had quite the week last week. Our sweet Pixie turned 8. She was baptized 2 days later by her father, and what a beautiful day it was. I'm so excited to share it with my friends, and also record it for my family history.

Before I start, I have many blog friends who are members of my faith, and sometimes I forget that all the "Mormon lingo" doesn't always translate to my friends who are not. I will try to add links where I think it would be helpful if people would like a better explanation of what I am talking about. Or you can email me if you have a question. If you don't like religious posts you might wanna skip this one. But it's who I am, and this blog is about my life - so I throw 'em in every now and then. Just sayin'.

Getting ready to be baptized.

I'm so blessed to be married to a good, worthy man who is able to baptize my children, and bless our family.

Hubby and I were especially privileged, because as a member of the bishopric, he was able to preside over the meeting, and give the bishopric remarks as a father. As a member of the Primary Presidency, I was able to give the presentation from the Primary as a mother. It was a good day for us. I presented her with a white baptism towel that has "CTR" (choose the right) embroidered on it, along with a sweet poem about baptism, and how the towel symbolizes being pure, and being able to be made clean through repentance. The primary also presents a small pearl (fake of course!) in a little decorated box with a parable about our testimonies being our greatest treasure that was shared with us by Elder W. Craig Zwick at our last Stake Conference. It was such a wonderful experience presenting these to my own daughter.

Pixie had asked Cowgirl to give a talk on Baptism, and she did such a good job. She is so eloquent, and spiritual beyond her years. She gave a beautiful talk that touched the hearts of all in the room. Especially when she bore her sweet testimony of our Savior and the Plan of Salvation. She then told Pixie how much she loved her, and how proud of her she was for taking this step. I'm not gonna lie, I may have shed a tear or two.

Pixie was soooo nervous before the baptism. We had explained each step to her, but she was so worried she was going to get something wrong. But what a glorious moment when she came up out of the waters of baptism, surrounded by family and loved ones who were there to support her. And who were all so proud of her decision to make this covenant.

She had asked Bookworm if he would give a talk on the Gift of The Holy Ghost. He too prepared a wonderful talk that uplifted and enlightened us all, and again I was choked up over what good kids I have. I am such a lucky mom.

Pixie was then confirmed a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints by her father, and received the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Pixie and her daddy.
Monkey also wanted to share the love.

After we were finished at the church, everyone came back to our place for food and fun. We are so blessed to be surrounded by so much family, and so many friends who love us, and came to share Pixie's special day with her. I hope it is a day she will always remember. I know I will.

Although we don't share the same religion we do share the same pride in our children. I have to say I had a lump in my throat when I read the both her sister and brother spoke during this special event.

Congratulation Pixie!

What a special day! What a great blessing it is to have worthy Priesthood holders in our homes who can do that for our children. Congrats!

I have to ditto Shawn. So sweet to see how the brothers and sisters got involved. You can see how much they love each other. :)

I am truly sorry to have missed it. We had some plans we were unable to get out of at the last minute. I am so glad the rest of the family was able to support her.
This is so sweet Xazmin! The photos are gorgeous. What a sweet day for your entire family.

Yeah!! Congrats. So happy it was such a beautiful wonderful day for you. I used to work with Elder Zwick's son. They are a great family.
How awesome!! Congratulations!

How sweet that her siblings spoke at the ceremony. I'm just learning about some mormon traditions thanks to the blogging world. We don't have many mormons here in Okieville.

As the wife of a pastor, mother, and lay speaker I understand the pride and most of the ceremonial stuff. I loved the pictures of the event. She was beautiful and her little spirit was so precious. How wonderful that your husband and you could both participate in such a spiritual event.
What a wonderful day for her and for your whole family! I agree with Shawn's sentiments. :)

(I tagged you. Remember those from last year...?) :)

Awww...congratulations, Pixie!
You know what's not fair???
Sissy asked me to give one of the talks at her baptism, and I couldn't even look at her, because every time I did, I bawled. I ended up delivering most of my talk to some random ward member's child, because I had to in order to get through it.
Nice, huh?
