It's that time again...

Time to link up to MiMi's meme! Hahaha...I'm so clever. Okay - I have been looking forward to doing this post since this incident happened. Now WHY would I be looking forward to it? You may ask.

Simply this...it's not me who looks like a fool in this story!

Picture this: I'm sitting in the living room with my family when there's a knock at the door. I see through the peep hole that it is Lexlie, daughter of my very dear friend Tanielle. Lexlee and Cowgirl happen to be very good friends, but they attend different schools and don't get to see each other often, so Cowgirl is excited to see her. I'm thinking that Tanielle sent Lexlee in to pick up her house keys that we had from when Hubby cleaned their carpets a few days earlier. So I reach down to get my purse, and I see Tanielle drive off. Color me confused.

Lexlee steps into the house and is just sorta standing there. I proceed to try to figure out what is going on.

Me: Hi Lexlee. What ya doin'?
Lexlie shrugs her shoulders.
Me: Um, did you come to pick something up?
Lexlee: no.
Me: Where did your mom go?
Lexlee shrugs her shoulders.
Me: Did you come to drop something off?
Lexlie: No.

I ask a few more questions in an attempt to figure out what the heck is going on, but I start to worry I'm making Lexlee feel bad, or uncomfortable or something.

So finally I ask, "Did you come to play?"
"Yes", she replies.
Me: "Great, well, come on in and play."

Cowgirl is overjoyed...a playdate and she didn't even have to nag!

I step out onto the porch and call Tanielle on her cell phone. It goes a little something like this:

Tanielle: Hello?
Me: Hello?
Tanielle: Yes?
Me: Um, did I forget about something? (Keep in mind that at this point I am considering the very REAL possiblity that we planned something and I just completely spaced it - I'm losing my mind, after all.)
Tanielle: Huh?
Me:Did you just drop Lexlee off at my house?
Tanielle: Yessss...
Me: Well, she is totally welcome, but, did I invite her over? (Still thinking that I am the idiot in this scenario.)
Tanielle: Didn't you?
Me: Well, I very well could have and just forgot! But I seriously don't remember that.
Tanielle: It was just barely...like 5 minutes ago!

Well I'm not THAT crazy...I know I wouldn't have forgotten 5 minutes ago!

Tanielle: It was from your cell phone, you called my home phone, and I saw it was your number, and when I picked it up it was Cowgirl asking for Lexlee, and I gave her the phone. Then Lexlee said "She wants me to come over and play". So I brought her over!

I go into the house and ask Cowgirl if she called Lexlee and invited her over without asking me first. She says "no". Lexlee says, "yes you did! Well my mom gave me the phone and said it was you!"

I am now laughing hysterically, I get back on the phone with Tanielle and say "Um it wasn't me".

Tanielle says "Well then who the crap called me?" By now she is back home and looks on her home phone. Yeah, it wasn't me. It was another cell phone that has the same area code and prefix as my number, but Tanielle just recognized the first part of the number and thought it was me! So when she handed Lexlee the phone, she told her it was Cowgirl. Next Tanielle says "Now who the crap invited Lexlee over? There's some poor little girl sitting at her house waiting for me to drop her off!"

They eventually figured out who it was, and straightened it out, and Lexlee left, with the plan for her to return in a few days to play at our house. Cowgirl was disappointed, poor Lexlee was traumatized my by interrogation, Tanielle was dying of embarrassment, and I was laughing my head off.

All in all, a pretty good cuss word moment, wouldn't you say?

I totally would have done the same thing! Not the drop the kid off at the wrong place, but what you did. I would have assumed it was me, and all my airhead glory, that had forgotten about the playdate! SO glad you were home at least!
