Ten Things to Smile About and TTUT!

Wow, it's been quite a month!  In my effort to become a blogger again, I'm linking up with 3 fabulous ladies for 10 Things to Smile About, and Talk To Us Tuesday.

Here we go:

1. Our new family business.  The girls and I stumbled upon this new found hobby in an effort to make a Mother's Day gift for my mom. We decided to make a business out of it.  Here are a few of my favorite items:

This is my family key chain.  It is my family in dates.  Mine and Hubby's birthdays, our wedding date and the birth dates of each of our children.

We designed this piece for my son's friend Sofia as a gift for her Quinceanera.  We've also had this ordered as a "Sweet 16 piece".  I love all our birthstone jewelry.

This team set was made for my friend Natalie who gave them to her softball team as an end of season gift.

We are seriously having so much fun with this.  The whole family helps get the orders filled and shipped!

2. Um...hello - My birthday!  July is seriously the best month of the year.  Just sayin'.

3. INDEPENDENCE DAY!  I love it.  I could make an entire post about what this holiday, and this country mean to me.  If you've been around my blog during July in the past, you've already had a chance to see.  I'm so grateful and I'll leave it at that for this post.

4. Fireworks.  They go along with number 3, but they deserve their own spot on the list, because fireworks are just that fabulous.

5. Soccer.  July has been a good soccer month.  Not only is my team number 1 in the standings, but 3 of our boys were called up to the U.S. Men's National Team and helped the U.S. become the Gold Cup Champions on Sunday.  Go my boys!

6. Pioneer Day.  Blogged about it last time.  If you missed it and would like to read, go here.

7. New mascara.  I've needed a new tube for a while now, and finally got it.  It's amazing the difference a new tube of mascara can make.

8. Good friends who make me feel loved.  I could do a whole 'nother blog post (or 3) about this.  But I'll just say I am blessed.

9. Good kids.  As mad as they make me at times, they make me even more proud all the rest of the time.  I really have good kids and am so thankful to have them in my life.

10.  Family reunions.  I'll blog the deets another time, but for now I'll share a couple of pictures of Baby Girl's first time in playing in the river.

What made you smile this month?

Seriously Shawn

How fun that you have a new business/hobby! Those all look great. I wanted to learn how to stamp a while ago but gave up before I started. Maybe I shouldn't have.
Happy birthday!
Love the difference a new tube of mascara can make.
The river photos are darling!

love the new business/jewelry! I was given stamps a long time ago as a gift, but never really ventured into learning that aspect of jewelry making! LOVE the keychain!!! Good luck, Etsy is tough in the jewelry business, but if nothing else it's a site for your customers that you accumulate elsewhere to have an online presence!!!

Hand Made for Fall - A party and a Giveaway!

I've been a busy girl! I have been wanting to do a giveaway for Fall, and when my fab friend Heidi revealed that her Monthly Craft Challenge for October would be Fall-themed crafts, I thought "YES! I will do a giveaway of Fall items - handmade by me!" So today I'm linking up with Heidi , and introducing my Handmade For Fall Giveaway as I show you what I've made for Heidi's party ! Sound good? First, a while back I showed you some coasters that I made, but it was clear back when I first started blogging, so I'm going to show you again with this new seasonal set! This idea has been floating around blog land, and I've seen several different variations. Here's how I do it. You will need: paper napkins, 4x4 ceramic tiles, 4x4 cork squares, MOD PODGE (what else?), sponge brushes (not shown), and polyurethane (not shown). Start by cutting your napkin down to a manageable size, slightly bigger than your tile. Next spread a layer of mod podg onto the t...

Mod Podge to the Rescue

Have you noticed that eggs and nests seem to be a common theme in home decor - especially with people making some decor changes for spring? I've seen some pretty cute stuff! For example - what do you think of these? If you like this look, you can get it at Williams-Sanoma. You'll pay $36 for the eggs, and $68 for 1 glass hurricane. They don't include the greenery! Sheesh! Maybe you could go online and find the whole look, already put together, like this: You'll pay $39 for that teeny one, and if you'd like a larger one - you'll shell out $89! Good thing I'm the Queen of Mod Podge! Remember this beauty that I found at the DI for $5? Well, I gathered up my trusty mod podge, the left over scrap book paper from this project, some plastic eggs that I got for 79 cents at Walmart, and a bag of moss that was around $2, also from Walmart. I mod podged the eggs closed so they wouldn't pop open while I was working with them, then I cut the scrapbook paper into ...
