Extreme Makeover: Me Edition!

Hello ladies! Welcome to another edition of EM:ME hosted by Amber! If you'd like to join us in giving each other healthy support head over to Amber's and link up!

I have not had the best week, and was very discouraged by the end of the weekend. I wasn't sure I wanted to link up, but I knew that I had to share the bad with the good...otherwise what's the point?

So I have some bad news and some good news. First the bad. You'll remember (if you visit Tanielle or I regularly) that Tanielle asked me to come stay with her kids on Wednesday night while she and Hunter Dan took Ashie to the ER. She had a severe bout of croup. She's okay now. Anyway, I was just getting ready to exercise, but of course this was more important! By the time I got home at 3:15 a.m. I really didn't feel like exercising! Then I missed Friday and Saturday as well! I felt like I let myself down and Amber who I committed to do Every Weekday in May with. What a loser! (and NOT the good kind!)

To make it worse I ate horribly over the weekend. I'm talkin' soda, pizza, eclairs, boston cream pie. I was so disgusted with myself by the time Sunday rolled around. I couldn't believe I had had several good weeks in a row, then let myself do this!

I'm not giving up though. I didn't weigh myself on Monday, but after eating very low calories on Monday and Tuesday, and exercising both nights, I still managed to lose 1.5 lbs from this time last week.

Also...the really cool thing... I've been at a kind of plateau for these past 5 lbs and I have finally hit the 30 lb mark of weight lost since January. Yes now you all know how fat I was to start with! Especially since I still have a lot to lose! Also...I bought some new clothes on Monday, because mine were fitting so poorly, and I wanted some summer clothes. I was able to buy a smaller shirt and pant size than I've been wearing for the past 2 years! Yay!

Here's a picture of the cute blingy watch I got in January. This thing fit snug around my wrist.

Here's a picture from today, Pixie helped me pull it out to show how loose it's getting.

I also figured out what my problem was for increasing my walking pace to 3.4. When I tried it again this week the same thing...my legs were dyin'. I did it for a few minutes, then just for kicks I increased it to 3.7...a very slow jog for me. This was so much better! I realized that 3.4 is too slow for me to jog it, but too fast for me to keep up with when I'm just walking fast. So instead of increasing to a constant 3.4, I have kept my pace at 3.3, then increased to a slow jog for part of the time. I'm hoping to gradually increase the jogging intervals, then eventually increase the jogging speed as well. Wish me luck!

Failed again on the going to bed early! What can I do to make myself go to bed on time? Any suggestions?

This week's question:

Name your guilty pleasure. Think of a healthier choice you could use as a substitute.

Wow...there are so many!

I love anything greasy and fattening! One of my favorite's are Nachos and almost anything Mexican.

One thing I've found to help me get my Mexican fix is this:

They're full of healthy stuff like chicken, beans, rice, green chiles - yum! Although they're not smothered in cheese and sour cream like I would prefer...they're still pretty tasty!

Everything in them is all natrual. They do have 400 calories, but they are big and very filling, so I usually have one of these for dinner! I get them at Costco.

I love Dr. Pepper, and there's just no substitute, so for now, I am just doing without. I allow myself one occasionally for a special occasion...but no more sending hubby to the gas station on his way home from work to bring me a big gulp!

That's my report for this week...sorry so lengthy. What's your guilty pleasure, and do you have a healthy alternative when you have that craving?

You are doing awesome Xazmin!!
You're doing great! I love the before and after pix of the watch! Sometimes it is the little things we wouldn't necessarily even think about that pop up to illustrate how we're doing. Good job!

(I don't drink soda, but wouldn't Diet Dr. Pepper work for you...?)

Congratulations!!! 30 pounds is fantastic. Please don't beat yourself up so much. It makes me want to reach through the Internet and give you a big hug. You and I are so similar! We focus on the negative too, too much. Embrace that 30 pound loss and enjoy how great it feels to feel lighter, wear smaller clothes (and watches!) and have your health.

Now I'm off to follow my own advice... :)
Wow darlin', 30 pounds is amazing! I'm so proud of ya. Don't beat yourself up over not exercising every day. It's great to strive and work hard to meet a goal, but life can get in the way sometimes. Focus on all that you've accomplished!

30lbs is amazing!!! You're doing awesome, so don't be hard on yourself about a couple days of missed exercising. Those burritos look delish! I'll have to look for them.

Keep up the good work!

I hope you've been having a great week!

30 pounds! WooHoo! You are doing so well.

Good job trying out the jogging. I tried the stair stepper this week at the gym and it was quite a work out. I did 32 floors!

LOVE the watch, where did you get it? I'm so proud of you for making it loose. I may have to try those burritos because I love anything Mexican too!
I'm so glad to hear I wasn't the only one who had a rough week and wasn't feeling too excited about sharing about it. Congrats on your weight loss though ~ it's great that you still lost a bit even though the beginning of the week was a challenge. :o)

I may have to try those burritos ~ they look delicious!

Good golly, 30 lbs!!! That is so terrific!!

Wondering how you managed to still lose when you feel like you cheated so much?! Sometimes your body needs a little "diet" break. Especially during a plateau! Plateau's happen when your body gets used to what you've been trying to feed {or not feed} it. So don't feel bad about indulging some. I think your body needed you to do that!

Isn't it wonderful when things start to get a little looser...like shirts, pants...oh, and watches...soooo cool!!

I think you are awesome!!!

xoxo ~Lisa
You are inspiring me to get myself going... 30 lbs wow! Seriously if you were perfect all the time I would have to hate you so thanks for being real.

You are doing awesome! Unfortunately....life gets in the way sometimes and we get off track but the important thing is that you got right back ON track!

You go, girl! 30 pounds is so much to be proud of not matter how much more you feel you have to lose. You're heading in the right direction, so try not to get too down on yourself for an occasional slip up. Trust me WE HAVE ALL BEEN THERE! Just pick back up and continue on...

I love me a big plate of nachos, so switching that up when going out to eat a Mexican restaurant has been pretty hard. But instead I get a salad with some chips on the side and that way I can still get that crunch, but just not a whole plate of it.

So happy that you got new summer clothes. What a great feeling to be a size smaller. Keep it up!!
30 pounds -- that is so AWESOME. Do you realize that is almost as much as Avery weighs??? It's crazy to think about it like that. Anyway, congratulations!!

I am so proud of you... 30 POUNDS!!!! Man I'm jealous, I just don't have the dedication. I can't even get past the first 10 and then yesterday after 2 weeks of wishing for white Ferrera Roche I bought and ate a whole 3 pack. It tasted amazing but then I was grouchy for the rest of the day because I was mad at myself.

I think your doing great! I can't be with out my Pepsi! I love homemade chocolate cookies -- we usually make them once a week. Not good I know!
Congrats and keep up the good work.

I have a new button -- I deleted all the old ones.

I'm fighting this same battle. It's a hard battle when you have NO WILL POWER!!!! And I don't honestly. Sounds as though you are doing really good!! Keep it up.

Love that poem in the last post. I read that when I spoke in sacrament meeting a year ago for mothers day. I just love it.
Have a great day.

WTG on losing the 30 lbs!! That is such a great accomplishment. I can't believe how much we have in common in the poor eating habbit department. I used to drink like 2 maybe even 3 of those big gulps a day of Dr. Pepper! Dr.P is my fav. Now I don't drink it at all. I had to give it up. I will drink one on occasions now but not very often. I love Mexican food too. Can't live without it. I will have to try those Chicken Burritos.

Thanks for stopping by. I love hearing your comments and your positive energy. It means so much.

Have a great week!!

Way to go! 30 pounds since January??? That is awesome. After I had my kids I was HUGE. It took me 19 months to loose 60 pounds. (yes...I was huge for me) Now, I've gained 10 back over the last year, but I'm still very content with where I am. Way to go on the weight loss...you can do it!

I think you're doing awesome!! Congrats on the 1.5 pounds, especially with slacking off for a few days. {which, we've all been there, sister}. Keep up the good work girl!

30 pounds since January?? That's awesome!

I also love the watch pictures. I started taking measurements a couple weeks ago so I could get an accurate measure, since the scale usually hates. :)
