Mod Podge Mania...the neverending project is complete!

Welcome Mod Podge Maniacs! So glad you are here, I'm excited for the party!!! Mostly I'm excited because the project I started MONTHS ago is finally complete. Now I haven't been working on it for months, it has been sitting waiting for me to get back to it since I started it months ago, and ran into some problems. But first things first...let's review the rules. You may link up any post new or old that shows us something fabulous to do with Mod Podge. It doesn't even have to be a project you did yourself...it can be something you ran across that you just think is really cool and want to share! Just make sure to give credit where credit is due. Please remember to link back to me in your post. Also, please take the time to visit as many other party guests as you can...the idea is to share and receive great new ideas for Mod Podge! NOW...down to business! I first saw this idea over at Sarah's . She snagged it from Ballard Designs, I snagged it from her. Sarah is n...

Mod Podge Mania !!!

Welcome friends! Are you so excited? Me too! I can't wait to see what you've all come up with! But to start I want to wish a very Happy Birthday to my sweet Cowgirl. I can't believe she's 9! I have a post all about her to share, but I want to have pictures from the family Birthday party on Friday! For my project, I must admit I STILL didn't finish the big project I've been hoping to show you. I keep running into problems. So I'm shooting for October's MPM to post that one! But I was able to do another project that I have actually been thinking about for a while. Since discovering all the fabulous talent in blog land, I have learned about, and fallen in love with the idea of accessorizing with books. I have a few spots around the house where I use some fun, old books in my decor. Then I thought how cool it would be to Mod Podge the books! Well, I had this idea, and then I saw it in a catalog too! I don't think they Mod Podged, but it was the same idea...

Halloween Kid's Craft, anyone?

The other day I ran across THE cutest craft idea for kids here . Loved this fun idea for glowing jack-o-lanterns, simple enough for ALL my kids to do, and cheap enough for me to let them!!! Here's what you'll need: glass jars (I used canning jars) orange tissue paper black paper Mod Podge (saw that one comin', didn't ya?) green paint Optional: lids and rings green tulle While the kids were busy cutting the tissue paper into strips (about 1.5 - 2 inches wide, length measured to fit the height of their jars).... I went outside and spray painted the lids and rings (glued together with a dab of hot glue) green. You can just paint the top, threaded part of the jar green with a brush...but you all know I'm a lazy crafter. So spray paint it is!! Once all the strips were cut... It was time to break out the Mod Podge. Working with a section at a time, apply a layer of MP to the jar, then smooth a strip of tissue paper over the top. Repeat all the way around, overlappin...

Mod Podge Mania is Here!!

Well, summer is winding down. Are you sad? Or are you excited like me? I love summer, but now is about the time I'm ready for the season to change. I LOVE fall, I love the smell, and the colors, and the cooler temperatures. Most of all I love the anticipation of the upcoming Holiday Season. I'm itchin' to start decorating for fall...how 'bout you? I'm especially excited to "Halloween-ify" my home! So for this month's Mod Podge Project, I decided to do a Halloween version of the Mod Podge blocks you may have seen in our very first edition of Mod Podge Mania. I found this adorable Halloween paper at Michaels, and I'm so pleased with how they turned out! I love how the little skeletons seem to be peeking out between the letters! All I did was spray paint some 2x4 scraps, then Mod Podge my paper on. Using Mod Podge on the wood to adhere the paper, then another couple of coats over the top. When the Mod Podge dried, I distressed the edges on the san...

Mod Podge Mania and a surprise!

Are you ready? Well I hope so, because I have had quite the time putting MPM together this month! The project I had in mind was a bust. I hope to have it done for next month, but it's a little bit more project than I had time to do, and my Monkey has been sick, so trying to actually accomplish something with her clinging to me, and crying for me to hold her was a little difficult. Last night I finally had to throw in the towel on that project (for now). Then I came up with another project, and it was quite simple, and relatively quick. But I have now spent the last 2 hours trying to load my pictures! For some reason my computer is having difficulty reading my new memory card. I'm not sure if it's the computer, or the card! I decided to put one of my old frames to good use, you know the ones that haven't hung in your house for ages, but it's a good frame, so you don't want to just throw it out! I did a quick spray paint job on the frame - I love Rustoleum Espress...

Success and Failure, or Living Room Redo Reveal

Well, my month is up! It's time for the big reveal in Shortmama's Living Room Redo Challenge . Did I get everything done that I wanted to? Nope. Did I accomplish anything? Actually I did. And my procrastination isn't really what's to blame for what I didn't get finished. I just ran out of budget! So I'll share what I've done so far, and hope to come back with more updates at the end of June! "Before" pictures on the left, "afters" on the right. Some are labeled, but I got lazy! First was the west wall, where our piano is. It was cluttered up with boutique supplies, and I wanted to replace the end tables with different ones from our bedroom that I wanted to make over. I also wanted to add to the wall display. Successes: Got all the Ribbon Blossoms clutter out of there! I finished my end tables. Please visit Mod Podge Mania to see what I did, and also see some great projects from other bloggers! Failures: Was not able to add to my wall d...

The Story of the One Giant Tulip

When I first moved into our house, I was overwhelmed with the possibilities/responsibilities of owning our own home. There was so much I wanted to do, and I was so excited to have our own place! We bought an older home, nothing fancy, but it was ours. I haven't accomplished a great deal of what I had in mind, because there was just so much else going on in life...that's getting ready to change though! Anyway, there is one experience I'd like to share about one of my little flower beds. There is a small, semi-circular flower bed that sits right to the side of where my front walk leads up to my front steps. Our first spring here a lovely bright red and yellow tulip bloomed. It was really big. I loved seeing it bloom each spring. This one, single giant flower. One day a few years ago, my mom mentioned to me that the bulb had probably multiplied quite a bit under ground (since it was so big), and that I should dig it up and divide it in the fall, and have a few more tulips the...

The Masked Mommy is hosting a Powwow where we can share some of the ways we have beautified our home. This post has some other stuff in it too, but you can just skip those parts! Go check them out if you'd like, and then link up with The Masked Mommy and share how you beautify your home!

Home Redo Challenge - one room at a time!

I'm so excited to take up Shortmama on her new challenge! She is putting together a home-redo challenge, one room at a time! The idea is to post some before pictures of the monthly room (this month is the living room), and explain what you'd like to have done with the room by the end of the month. You link up on her site so everyone can see each other's "before" pictures, and see the goals for that room. Then at the end of the month, you link up again to show what you've accomplished! This is sooo good for me, because I see so many beautiful homes of my fellow bloggers, and great decorating ideas and I think "I want to do that!" But I never seem to get around to implementing all the inspiration I get! So I am beyond excited for this challenge! I'm asking for a lot of input, so sorry...it's kinda long! So, I'm being brave here posting my before pictures (no room primping allowed)...I always crop very carefully because everyone in bloglan...
