Vacationing from exercise is NOT an option

I missed out on EM:ME last week, but I so need the support and motivation from all of you. I'm still really stagnant in my mission to make myself over. I'm not really going backwards and gaining again...YET. But I know it's only a matter of time if I don't get back in the swing of things. PLUS I go to girl's camp on Monday, and I'm afraid the hike is going to kick my butt! Walking 3 miles is something I can accomplish easily enough. Hiking a trail for 3 miles at an elevation of 6500 feet (hello...oxygen anyone?) is a whole 'nother story! So I'm pretty much preparing to make a fool of myself. Whatever. So Amber's question for us today: Share with us some of your vacation survival strategies. Hello, how much do we love to eat on vacations? Do you sometimes get the feeling that as a society this is like a 'free pass' to just indulge?? It seems that way to me. Well, since girls camp is 5 days long, and we have a specific menu, and food we will ...

It's Official

If I had any doubt as to whether I made the right decision about selling my tickets...it was all washed away when I had a buyer for them less than an hour after I listed them. Stacie from Seattle is now the proud owner of 2 GA floor seats to New Kids On The Block at the Pearl Theatre in Las Vegas. An intimate, state of the art theatre, with amazing accoustics, and fantastic seats throughout the house. The furthest seat from the stage is only 120 feet away. My tickets will put her close enought to kiss them. I'd be lying if I said I didn't get a little choked up when I sealed up the Priority Mail envelope at the Post Office this morning. I know it's just a concert, and I'm being so silly. I don't think I would have such a hard time if it were any other concert. I think the thing about this show and their comeback that is so sentimental is that it totally brings back the nostalgic feelings of when I was young. It's like I get to have the best of both worlds - the ...

Breaking News

Well...I regret to inform everyone that I will NOT be going to Vegas this weekend to see my fabulous 5 boys from Boston. Yes, I know, I know...it is quite a shock. I'm sad, but I know it's the right decision. I have been struggling with this for awhile. It started when I received my calling to serve in the Young Women's organization, and I realized girls camp was the very next week. I would be leaving my family on a Friday, returning on a Sunday, then leaving again on Monday for 5 days. I've had a lot of guilt about this, because I've never left my kids, except once for 3 days for a conference that was a requirement for my charter school board member position. But even then I took my husband and my youngest. I don't feel guilt about leaving for girls camp...it's a worthy service that deserves my time. However, the concert is just a fun, frivolous weekend for just myself, and although there's nothing wrong with that, it just felt like I was being r...

Let Freedom Ring

Have a Happy and safe 4th!

I'm excited and sad...

I'm so excited that in 1 week I will be on my way to Vegas to see my boys! I'm so sad because my partner in crime has officially decided she is too sick to go. I feel so bad for her. I'm really at a loss as I've already got the tickets...and no sidekick to accompany me! Please keep your fingers crossed that I can figure something out...I SO don't want to go with my husband! I love that guy, but he is seriously lame at concerts. And please keep sending positive thoughts Tanielle 's way ...she needs to get feeling better! But on to happier thoughts! Guess what else I'm SUPER STOKED about for my New Kids Show? They are touring with the JABBAWOKIES ! Don't know who the Jabbawokies are? Well then you better watch my video and find out! (They are the winners of the 1st season of America's Best Dance Crew...and now are a huge sensation!) I love, love, LOVE me some dancin' men, and these guys are awesome...so I get to see my boys AND these guys! Could ...

Girl's Night In!

So last night was the first time in a loooong time I've been able to hang with my frequently barfing pal Tanielle . If y'all knew how we act when we're together, you would totally quit following us. For real. Her husband has a new work assignment that takes him away Monday through Thursday. He's only home on the weekends. It's kind of rough with her being so sick right now, so I decided she needed a little quality time with me, and a dose of laughing her guts out (which she did...literally). We had so much fun, and it gave me a chance to finally meet the new guy in her life. If you haven't yet met Francisco , you must go here . He keeps her companyy while Hunter Dan is away. Our staple supplies for girl's night are as follows: Giant Dr. Pepper, Nachos, and vampire DVD's. How much weight do you think last night helped me lose? I will always think Angel's hotter than Edward. Spike too. Please don't hurt me JennyKate ! Tanielle's fun to watch v...

Braggin' on my Boy

Yesterday my baby boy turned 11! Can you believe it? I'm not old enough to have an 11 year old! Really...I'm not! I wanted to take today to throw "humble" out the window and brag on my boy! I can't believe how the time has flown. Bookworm is my firstborn...do all you moms remember how OVERWHELMING first time motherhood is? While we were in the hospital, he began exremely rapid breathing...so fast that the doctors thought he may have an infection and did routine treatment. I was NOT pleased with my hospital experience. I felt the hospital staff was unprofessional, and at times down right rude! But that's a post for another day. After 2 spinal taps, and 3 days of antibiotics being administered via IV, they finally decided to let us go home. They put IV lines in my baby boy's head and leg...then wrapped him all up to make sure the IV's stayed in. We were to continue the doses for 6 more days at home. It was very traumatic! When I came to the nursery to ge...
